2014 Illinois Soccer Media Day Roundup
Aug. 6, 2014
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The University of Illinois soccer program began its 2014 preseason schedule with its first official team practices and Media Day on Wednesday. A day after reporting to campus and going through initial team meetings, the Illini opened training camp with a fitness test and drills in the morning at the Irwin Indoor Facility followed by their first photo shoot in new orange uniforms before an afternoon training session at the Illinois Soccer Stadium.
The Illini began their preseason routines with morning and afternoon practice sessions, allowing the Illini student-athletes to complete the necessary fitness work while also cycling through several drills Rayfield will make use of throughout the season. The Orange and Blue will continue their two-a-days, which include weight lifting, video sessions and fitness tests in the morning and training sessions and tactical practices in the afternoon.
The Illini also took headshots, class photos and a team photo in their new orange uniforms, which they debuted for the first time since the Nike rebrand in April. Check out a behind-the-scenes look at day one of preseason below.
