Warren Named to U.S. Speedskating Junior Worlds Team

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - University of Illinois soccer recruit Sarah Warren, a Class of 2014 signee, was one of nine speedskating athletes named to the U.S. Long Track Junior World Championship Team. Warren won a pair of national titles at the U.S. Junior Long Track Championships over the weekend at the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee, which is an Olympic training site of U.S. Speedskating.
Warren won the 1000m national title with a a time of 1:21.55 on Saturday (Feb. 15) and followed it up with a first-place finish in the 500m race with a time of 40.87 on Sunday (Feb. 16). She will compete for the U.S. Team at the 2014 Junior World Championships in Bjugn, Norway, from March 7-9, which will mark the second-straight year she will represent the United States as a member of the USA Junior World Long Track Speedskating Team.
Warren, a senior at Hinsdale South High School, signed a National Letter of Intent to play soccer at the University of Illinois beginning in the fall of 2014. The Willowbrook, Ill., native nearly qualified for the Olympics in Sochi earlier this year. She finished eighth in the 500m and ninth in the 1000m at the 2014 U.S. Long Track Speedskating Olympic Trials.
