Illini Win Regular Season Finale
Defeat Oakland, 3-0, to Finish 12-7 - 11/1/98

The University of Illinois soccer team defeated Oakland University, 3-0, this afternoon to finish the regular season on a three-game winning streak in preparation for the Big Ten Tournament next weekend at Penn State.

Lisa Baldwin got the scoring underway for Illinois just 1:05 into the game on a ball served by senior Sarah Aberle, who celebrated Senior Day on Sunday. Kelly Buszkiewicz added another at 6:55 and Kim Doetzel finished out the scoring with a goal at the 41:43 mark. The second half was scoreless for both teams.

Illinois moves into postseason play for the first time in the program's history next weekend as the Illini travel to Penn State for the Big Ten Tournament. Illinois is the eighth seed and will meet top-seed Penn State in the first round on Friday. Semifinals are scheduled for Saturday and the finals are Sunday.
