Indiana Drops Illini, 2-1
The University of Illinois soccer team lost to Indiana University, 2-1, this evening at the UI Soccer Complex at First and Stadium Drive. Illinois drops to 9-7 overall and 3-6 in the conference.
Indiana took a quick lead when Kris Fosdick scored on a assist from Abby Ryan at just 2:17 into the game, a lead the Hoosiers took into halftime. IU's Abby Ryan made it 2-0 at the 53:18 mark.
Illinois scored its lone goal when Sarah Aberle found the back of the net in the 70th minute. The assist was credited to sophomore Laura Lantz.
Tonight's contest was the final game of the Big Ten season. Illinois finishes eighth and will meet No. 1 seed Penn State in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament. The tournament is scheduled for Nov. 6-8 at Penn State University.
Illinois returns home Wednesday evening for a 7 p.m. match-up with Washington University out of St. Louis.
