Getting to Know Marti: Nickname: Mart, Mard • Favorite TV shows: House, American Idol, Grey's Anatomy, King of Queens, Everybody Loves Raymond • Favorite movie: Saw, Saw 2, Crash • Interesting fact about me: I am good at cooking and dbaking and I enjoy doing both • Advice to young soccer players: Play because you love to play, not because you have to.

Coach Rayfield on Desjarlais: "Marti continues to get stronger and have a greater physical presence on the field. When she puts that with her deception and skill with the ball and her incredible fitness level, Marti has the ability to be a connection point all over the field. As a central midfielder, her range is tremendous and we have to use that range to have constant support around the ball. Every team needs a player who always wants the ball and is always looking to give the ball away at the same time. Marti can be that player for the Illini."
