Get behind the scenes of Illinois Gymnastics with Illini Ink - the weekly women's gymnastics journal. In this year's 10th edition, sophomore Alina Weinstein recaps the sqaud's Thanksgiving Break and previews Sunday's Mixed Pairs Exhibition.

Hey Illini Fans!

Hope you had an enjoyable and relaxing Thanksgiving break filled with lots of family time. Before we all went home, we had one last intrasquad to prepare us for the upcoming season. As a whole, we were very impressed with how smoothly things went. We only counted one fall, which meant everyone did about the best possible job that they could do at this point. This is very exciting news for us, and it means that all the work we put into preseason is finally paying off. After intrasquad we all enjoyed a team Thanksgiving dinner at coach Landrus' house. It was really nice to watch some football and spend the day with the team and our extended family. Most of us are big fans of coach's sweet potatoes, so our Thanksgiving dinner is something we all get really excited for.

This Sunday at 2 p.m. is our annual Mixed Pairs exhibition at Huff Hall where every girl's team member is paired up with one of our boys and they compete as a duo. Last year Mel and Austin took the crown, so it should be very exciting to see how everyone is coupled this year! Be sure to come watch and cheer us on as we debut our new routines for the upcoming season. We will also be signing our new posters after the exhibition. Until then, you can see our posters online on our website or our Fighting Illini Gymnastics Facebook page.

Hope to see you all on Sunday and thanks for reading, GO ILLINI!
