Get behind the scenes of Illinois Gymnastics with Illini Ink - the weekly women's gymnastics journal. In this year's eighth edition, senior Lashlee Morris gives an update on the team's progress in practice and the squad's Halloween celebration.
Hey Illini fans!
We only have 18 days until our first full intrasquad. Yay! The girls are working hard in the gym, as usual, in preparation for the exciting day. We're doing full beam routines, full floor routines, bar routines with a base dismount, and our competition vault. We had our Halloween workout on Sunday. We drew names and got to dress up one of our teammates. I chose Kelsey again this year and dressed her up as a magician. Thanks to London, Amy's daughter, for letting me borrow her stuffed animal rabbit for Kelsey's costume. ☺ My favorite costume, hands down, was Amber's. Hannah dressed her up as a camper and she looked hilarious. You'll have to check out our pictures to see for yourself. The coaches gave us assignments and we had the opportunity to win candy prizes. Yum! Halloween is always so much fun.
Midterms are over but we only have a few short weeks until finals will be on our minds. This year is going by so quickly. Thanksgiving break is creeping up and soon after that it will be Christmas.
Things outside of the gym are going great as well. We went to dinner to celebrate Mel's birthday and some of the alum, Suki, Laura, and Lori, came to join in on the fun. The freshmen are doing well and seem to have really gotten the hang of college. Mel and I have a weekly date with Liz at our apartment to watch Grey's Anatomy...it's definitely one of my favorite nights of the week. Our apartment loves having the girls over! We're the type of group that could make conversation about a rock for hours, and have a blast with it!
Thanks for reading and GO ILLINI!
