Get behind the scenes of Illinois Gymnastics with Illini Ink - the weekly women's gymnastics journal. In this year's eighth edition, freshman Abbie Leber talks about the great atmosphere on campus, the start of practice and excitement for the upcoming season.
Hey Illini Fans!
I can't believe it's already the last week in October! Time sure does fly around here. It's wild to think that we have already been here on campus over two months. It's been a very eventful last two months to say the least. We're constantly on the go doing something school or gymnastics related, but everything is very entertaining and rewarding.
There are so many amazing things that are happening here at Illinois, and I feel extremely blessed everyday that I am able to be a part of it. The family atmosphere of the team is exactly what I was wishing and hoping for when I was searching for a collegiate program. The team is always doing some activities that bring us closer as a team and as a new family.
We are making great strides in the gym, especially with the beginning of season fast approaching! We have started to put together routines on bars and beam and base routines on floor. I can already see and feel that the team is looking and practicing stronger and I can't wait till the season comes to put all our hard work into action.
We are all very excited for the home football game this weekend against Michigan and for Halloween! We have several team activities planned including dressing up in costume for practice. We have also been enjoying the nice weather the last few weeks which has been a nice change from the rainy cold weather we were having.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned to new updates and changes as we prepare for season in the coming weeks and remember GO ILLINI!
