Sophomore Jaclyn Kantecki
Sept. 29, 2010
Get behind the scenes of Illinois Gymnastics with Illini Ink - the weekly women's gymnastics journal. In this year's third edition, sophomore Jaclyn Kantecki talks about the start of official practice and the team's planned activities at the upcoming football game on Saturday.
Hey Illini fans!
It's that time of year again! Official practices are well under way, and it's great to have everyone back in the gym with positive structure added in to our workouts. Practices have been very upbeat, and there is already a lot of cheering. The freshmen are adjusting well, and I think I can speak for the rest of my sophomore teammates when I say that it's a blast to be living in the dorms with them. They really are a fun group of girls. I'm so glad that we can be here to help them with their college transition just as Kelsey and Hannah were here for all of us. This is just the beginning of a great year.
There are a lot of fun things going on outside the gym as well. I know all of the girls on the team are looking forward to the big football game against Ohio State this Saturday. We will be having our annual tail-gate with all of the parents before and after the game. Parents and siblings are flying and driving to Champaign from all over. It'll be great to have everybody together again. It's funny how much you miss all of the parents when you don't see them at meets every weekend. It will also be nice to be able to welcome all of the freshman parents to our Fighting Illini family.
Well I think that's about all for now. Good luck to all the football guys this weekend. We'll all be there cheering you on!
Thanks for reading and Go Fighting Illini!
