Senior Allison Berg was one of six Illini to be named a Scholastic All-American by the NACGC/W

Six University of Illinois Gymnasts were named Scholastic All-Americans by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women. Allison Berg, Sara Dumich, Jana Gallagher, Karen Hawley, Amanda Kaufman, and Lindsay Ransom were all honored for their outstanding performances both in the gym and the classroom. In addition, Illinois was named as a Scholastic All-American team by posting a team grade point average of 3.2563 in 2001-02.
Allison Berg is the only senior of the group. She sports a 3.86 overall grade point average in kinesiology. She won the women's gymnastics team Scholar-Athlete award this past season.
Sophomore Sara Dumich posts a 3.45 overall GPA in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She earned a 3.85 average last year as a sophomore.
Jana Gallagher is a business administration major who carries a 3.71 overall grade point average. The junior, who has won the Most Outstanding Gymnast Award and the Most Consistent Beam Award two years in a row, posted a perfect 4.0 GPA for the 2001-02 academic year.
Junior Karen Hawley was also honored by the NACGC/W. She boasts a grade point average of 3.75 as a physiology major.
Amanda Kaufman, also a junior, carries a 3.37 GPA as a psychology major. She was named the team's Most Improved gymnast for the 2001-02 season.
Sophomore Lindsay Ransom is the final member of the Fighting Illini to be honored. She is enrolled in the College of Applied Life Studies and carries a 3.51 grade point average.
