Get behind the scenes of Illinois Gymnastics with Illini Ink - the weekly women's gymnastics journal. In this year's 27th edition, the four Fighting Illini seniors recap the 2011 season.
Wow! We cannot believe that we have graduated from the University of Illinois. We know it is so cliché but we cannot believe we started our freshman year here four years ago and that we are done with gymnastics in college. It went by so fast with all of the good times and we just want to highlight a few memories from this past year.
Our end of the year video really summed up a lot of the great gymnastics moments from this season. Thanks to Derryl it was an awesome video and we all loved it. Be sure to watch it below after reading. We really enjoyed watching the boy's video as well. It was hard saying goodbye to the girls, coaches, and parents at the banquet this year. There were a lot of tears from us knowing that this would be our last banquet with the girls.
One of our favorite memory from this season is definitely when we made nationals at our regional meet in Alabama. Our main goal this season was to make nationals and making it our senior year was a great way to end our gymnastics careers at U of I.
It's hard for us to explain how much the girls mean to us and how much we are going to miss them. It is something that we can only understand being on the team. We spent pretty much our lives together, including countless hours working in the gym but it did not end there. We chose to spend our free time together outside of the gym whether it was a movie night, intense game nights with the boys team, or just sitting around and talking. The girls will be forever missed by us.
Forever an Illini-
