Hi Illini Fans!

As you may have already heard, we unfortunately did not qualify to Nationals this year. We started off strong on vault, which ended with Allison nailing her vault! Allison's vault was spectacular, which tied her for first place giving her the chance to go to Nationals and vie for All-America status. We had so much energy and heart going into the meet that when we got to bars we let our nerves get to us a little bit. We didn't have to count a fall, but we didn't score the way we would have liked to. After bars we continued on to beam, but didn't score as high as we were hoping to.

However, one of our freshman, Alina, had the chance to step in and compete on beam due to the Melissa's unfortunate injury. Alina did a phenomenal job as she scored the highest beam score of the entire team! She actually competed all four events and did a fabulous job. The team is extremely proud of her for stepping in and being able to perform under such conditions!

After the beam rotation, many of us knew that our chances to making it to Nationals were extremely slim. Nonetheless, we wanted to show that arena that no matter what we are always the FIGHTING ILLINI! Also, some of our girls had the chance to qualify as individual competitors if they were able to perform their floor routines well. Fortunately, Sarah was able to score an amazing 9.925, which led her to the third highest all-around score of the night and the highest all-around score from a non-qualifying team!

The last two meets of this season have been extremely emotional for me. I have never wanted anything more than to win Big Tens and earn that Championship ring. It was also difficult not qualifying to Nationals as a team. However, I am so very proud of my team for all of the wonderful things we have accomplished.

I would never trade one moment it has taken to compete at this level in order to represent the University of Illinois. I have loved competing for this University, especially at Huff Hall. I know that we would not have made it nearly as far as we have if it weren't for you fans. We appreciate all of the times you have been able to watch us at Huff Hall, or just tune in to read our journal entries!

Stay in tune to hear about Nationals as Sarah and Allison get the chance to represent Illinois one last time this season! Thanks for reading and all the support this past season!

The one and only,
