CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Earning one of four spots in the evening session at Saturday's Big Ten Championships wasn't the only thing the Illini women's gymnastics program could celebrate this week, as Amber See was tabbed Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week on Monday afternoon. The senior caps her final regular season donning the Orange and Blue with her fourth career conference weekly award, second this season.
See's memorable last season continued this past weekend, as she helped Illinois finish in second place at the Big Ten Quad Meet with a 196.875 team score. See started the meet on beam where she tied her career high of 9.85 for the third time this season.
The Minnetonka, Minn., native then finished second on floor with a 9.925. It marked the second straight week See tallied a 9.925 and the sixth time this season the senior scored a 9.9 or higher on the event. Lastly, See tied for first on vault with a 9.9, earning her fifth title of the season on the apparatus.
See now enters the postseason with 10 individual titles won in 2014. In addition, her 27 career titles ranks 10th on the all-time career title list. See and the rest of the Illini seek their second Big Ten Championship on March 22, at 4 p.m. CT, at Penn State.
