CHAMPAIGN, Ill.  - A successful weekend for the Illini women's gymnastics team was validated today by the conference office, as they named Amber See Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week and Erin Buchanan Big Ten Freshman of the Week. The award is See's third weekly honor in her career and the first since her freshman season. In addition, Buchanan rewrote history by becoming the first Illini gymnast to win Big Ten Freshman of the Week three times in a single season.

Speaking of history, Amber See became the third ever Illinois gymnast to score a perfect 10.0 Friday night at the State of Illinois Classic. See tied the all-time vault record set by Alina Weinstein just last season. On Sunday, See earned her third floor title of the season by tying her career high of 9.950. She is one of two Illini gymnasts to hit a 9.950 or higher three times in her career, previously achieved by Weinstein.

Erin Buchanan was reliant as ever this weekend, finishing in the top-five in vault and floor for both meets. Buchanan's highest score of the weekend came Friday on vault, where the freshman recorded a career high 9.900. The Virginia native has not scored below a 9.800 on either vault or floor for five straight meets.

See, Buchanan and the rest of the Fighting Illini return to action Friday, Feb. 28 at No. 2 Oklahoma at 7 p.m. CT.
