Get behind the scenes of Illinois Gymnastics with Illini Ink - the weekly women's gymnastics journal. In this year's 20th edition, freshman Lashlee Morris provides an update on the team's Friday meet on the Big Ten Network along with the team's performance at Jock Jams on Wednesday.

Hey Illini Fans!

We are already half way through our season, wow! Kim announced in huddle yesterday that we only have 10 more practices until Big Ten's! Hard to believe it's that close. Each weekend we've made significant improvements, and our performances have certainly reflected all of the hard work we have been putting in during practices. This past weekend against UIC was our best meet yet...and so close to a 196! We have a short week of practice and are off again to Michigan State for a competition on Friday February 25th. Our meet is once again LIVE on the Big Ten Network at 6:30 pm ET. All the girls are really excited to compete against these girls, as many of them are our friends.

We really enjoyed the weather last week. It was so nice to have the sun shining into the gym. Hopefully the groundhog was right and spring will come early!

For one of Jay's bar assignments last week we got to play a game of Sorry! that correlated with routines. Al and Kels won the game and made the unfortunate losers, Mel and Jac, dress up in nerd outfits for practice the next day. Glasses were part of the costume but Mel forgot hers and got a really nice makeshift pair. Needless to say, they looked great...I was giggling about it the whole practice.

We have Jock Jams tonight at Huff Hall. Jock Jams is a variety act/talent show featuring Fighting Illini athletic teams. All the proceeds will be donated to local, national, and international charities. The girls made a really exciting dance to "Nobody's Perfect" by Miley Cyrus. We think it's going to be a real crowd pleaser ☺

That's all for now. Thanks for reading!

Go Illini!
