Illini Head to Iowa on Sunday After Meet at NIU Cancelled

Trip to DeKalb called off due to tragedy at Northern Illinois campus

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Fighting Illini women's gymnastics team, originally scheduled to compete at Northern Illinois this weekend, will instead travel to Iowa City to join a meet against Iowa and Michigan State on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 24).

All athletic events at Northern Illinois have been cancelled through Feb. 24 as the university observes a week of healing following the tragic shooting on the NIU campus on Feb. 14.

The triangular meet between the No. 21 Illini, No. 24 Hawkeyes and No. 19 Spartans will begin at 1 p.m. at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
