Sophomore Macy Hyatt
Feb. 10, 2011
Get behind the scenes of Illinois Gymnastics with Illini Ink - the weekly women's gymnastics journal. In this year's 18th edition, sophomore Macy Hyatt provides updates on the team's latest meet and how the squad is working in practice.
Last weekend we hosted our annual pink meet against Minnesota and Central Michigan. We accomplished our season high with a 195.750! We had four junior coaches that traveled around with us to all the events during the competition. Each one of these young girl's lives has been affected by breast cancer. We were all just so happy that we were able to hang-out with them and provide a fun day for each one of them. Thanks to the rest of the fans who came and wore pink to support those who have been through the hard times of breast cancer.
This week we have been working really hard in the gym to fix what our coaches like to say "quirrellys"! Really focusing on the details is what has helped us move forward every week. The energy in the gym has been fantastic these past two weeks and we are really looking forward to taking that energy to Missouri this Friday!
The snow day last week was a nice little break from class, but now we are back in to the groove of things and a lot of us have exams coming up this week and next week. It is perfect timing to travel to Missouri; we always get a lot of studying done on the bus!
Don't forget to come watch us compete at our next home meet against UIC at Huff Hall on February 19th at 5pm. Thanks for reading and tune in next week for another week of ink!
