Get behind the scenes of Illinois Gymnastics with Illini Ink - the weekly women's gymnastics journal. In this year's 15th edition, sophomore Jaclyn Kantecki discusses the start of the season and the upcoming meet at Ohio State, which will be aired on the Big Ten Network.

Hey Illini fans!

I want to tell all of you readers how much I absolutely love this time of year. Season is finally here! We have two meets now under our belts, and after a long and productive preseason, it feels great to be back out on the competitive floor. I feel very prepared this season, and it is much easier now that I know what to expect in college gymnastics. I must say, our freshmen are handling the transition very well. The team is off to a good start and working hard in the gym during the week to make sure that each meet builds off the previous one. We were very pleased with the progress we made in one week from Kentucky to Michigan. The coaches have been emphasizing that each meet is just another step along the way towards our final goal. This weekend, we will be traveling to Ohio State where we will have this season's first debut on the Big Ten Network.

This week is especially busy with classes and morning cardio starting back up again. It will be nice to get back into a schedule though. We spent quite some time this Sunday moving all of our belongings back into the dorms after living in the apartments for the break. Even though we'll miss getting to spend more time with the upperclassmen, all of us dormers are excited to have our own space again. We sophomores are especially excited that this will be our last semester in the dorms. It's easy to get used to the apartment life after living there for such a long break.

All in all, I'm very excited for everything this semester has in store for us. Don't forget to tune in to the Big Ten Network this Saturday at 12 o'clock eastern time to cheer us on. Thanks for reading and Go Illini!
