Happy New Year Illini Fans!
Wow has the first semester of college gone by extremely fast. Second semester is approaching quickly and our nice winter break is coming to a close. The most exciting part of second semester is competition season.
Our first meet is just around the corner. We will be heading out of town this Thursday in order to prepare for our meet on Friday night against Alabama. Everyone is really excited to get the season rolling. The team has been working really hard in the gym touching up all of the little things in order to hit our routines. This proved to be true during our intrasquad meet last Thursday when we did not count a single fall in our line-up. We are looking forward to progress even more as we head to Alabama.
Outside the gym the team has been working hard as well. On Monday, we all headed out to different elementary schools around the area to talk to the kids and play with them at recess. Krystal, Lindsey, Suki, Lashlee, and I went over to Stratton Elementary school and spoke with the kids during their lunch hours. It was a beautiful day out so we also got to have a little fun on the playground. The kids were really excited to have us there and it was nice for us to feel like little kids again.
Speaking of feeling like little kids again, it was great to open up gifts at our holiday party at Bob's house. Bob and his wife made us a delicious dinner (and some dessert too!) to enjoy while we exchanged our gifts. Everyone had so much fun. I got a new under armour shirt...I think the team has definitely figured out what I like!
The only person missing from the holiday party was Kim's husband Steve. Lucky for him he was in California for the Rose Bowl. Unfortunately, the Illini suffered a loss against the mighty Trojans from USC. However, the entire Illini family is proud of the football team for their accomplishments this season. Everyone on campus looks forward to see what they can do next season!
Well, the team looks forward to seeing everyone at our first home meet against Ohio State on January 19th at 7 pm!
Thanks for reading and GO ILLINI!
