Hello Illini Fans!

I simply can't believe that we are traveling to Oregon State this coming weekend! We are all extremely excited and ready to begin an amazing season that will only start where we left off last year!

We had an intra-squad competition this past Saturday, which you can watch some footage of HERE. We were so fortunate to have a special guest appearance! Our special guest appearance was a little girl named Carly, who received an Illinois competition leotard from Santa, so she and her parents brought the leotard in and had the whole team sign it. Carly and her parents were able to stick around for our intra-squad, and we all hope they had a wonderful time. We can't wait to see you again Carly at our first home meet!

Our intra-squad began on bars, which will be our first event at Oregon State as well. We didn't start off as strong as we had hoped, but we recognized our mistakes as an opportunity to prove that we can bounce back from any obstacles or challenges that may face us during a meet.

We bounced back quickly from our uncharacteristic mistakes made on bars by nailing our balance beam sets and hitting five of our six sets. Next, we headed to floor and did not have to count a fall, and it was so much fun to see some of the girls compete their new floor routines! We ended on vault, which I believe will be an extremely strong event for us. We have more than the girls in our vault line-up training 10.0 vaults and performing them extremely well.

Overall, the intra-squad went well once we were able to refocus after bars and gain our composure back. We definitely have some fine tuning on each event before heading off to Oregon State, but I am highly confident that we are prepared for the season and ready to compete! Thanks for tuning in!
