Go behind the fifth of Illinois women's golf with "Chip Shots", the online golf journal. In the fourth edition of the season, sophomore Katelin Dilger discusses the warm weather in Austin, Texas, posting low scores, and finishing up the fall season.
Hey there Illini Fans,
This past weekend the Women's Golf Team traveled to Austin, Texas to play in the Challenge at Onion Creek tournament hosted by Texas State. We all enjoyed the sunny weather in Austin as well as competing on the course where the Senior Professional Golf Tour originated.
The course provided us with a few challenging holes as well as great birdie opportunities. During our first round we posted our lowest number this season with a 287 and were led by Raquel Hopton who shot a three under 67. It was great to have such a solid start and although we didn't play as well the next two rounds we learned a lot and can use this information to improve during the offseason and take a lot of confidence out of our first round.
Now that we are in the offseason the entire team is ready to improve some areas of our game and work out hard to prepare us for the spring season!
