CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Illinois women's golf team will travel to Austin, Texas for the Challenge at Onion Creek, the final tournament of the fall for the Illini. The last time out, the Illini won their first tournament of the year, as they claimed the title at the first annual Memphis Women's Invitational. Illinois won the tournament after the third and final round was cancelled due to inclement weather. Illinois began the tournament off in fourth place after a first round 314, but responded in the second round to move into first after carding a 301, the lowest round of the tournament. Illinois' 36-hole total was the fourth-lowest 36-hole tournament in program history. Individually, the Illini were led by freshman Ember Schuldt with rounds of 79-74 and finished in a tie for seventh.
Last year at the Challenge at Onion Creek Illinois placed 17th of 21 teams after a 54-hole total of 883. Then-junior Raquel Hopton led the Orange and Blue individually after a 54-hole total of 218 to tie for 32nd. Each of the five players competing posted their career best low score for a 54-hole tournament.
