Hello Illini Fans!
This past week we played in our fourth tournament of the season in Memphis, Tennessee. It was the First Annual Memphis Women's Invitational. We came away with great success placing first and beating Memphis and Missouri State by six strokes!
The night we arrived we were treated to some hometown Memphis cooking at the Germantown Commissary where they are known for their Bar-B-Q and homemade chocolate pie. It was so good "Yull Slap Yo Momma," or that's what their take home cups said. We all enjoyed the experience and it gave us that relaxed mood we needed to go out and shoot good scores!
Our team showed great perseverance because during the practice round we were not able to play all the holes due to inclement weather. We had to make sure we took good notes and really focused once we got to the course for the first round of play. Our first 18 holes were not quite what we were hoping for but we rebounded to shoot the lowest round of the tournament during the second 18, a round of 301 to grab the lead. This second round rebound proved important. Due to the inclement weather on Tuesday, the third round was canceled.
With all of our fun and success we hope to keep this rolling and perform well down in Texas for our next event at Onion Creek and the last tournament of the fall!
