CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Orange and Blue golfers look to continue their recent success at the Shootout at the Legends as they head to Franklin, Ind., on Oct. 8-9. Illinois finished in second place at last year's tournament, setting several individual and team records. Tournament play will consist of 36-holes on Monday followed by a single 18-hole round on Tuesday at the 6,207-yard par 72 Legends of Indiana Golf Course.

Illinois joins Eastern Michigan, Toledo, Grand Valley State, Illinois State, Southern Illinois, Northern Illinois, St. John's, Old Dominion, Ball State, Indiana State, Bowling Green State and Georgetown in the 13-team tournament field.

All five seniors, Seul Ki Park, Kristin Kallergis, Kristine Cook, Stephanie Mory, and Casey Burden, will make the trip along with junior Nancy Featherstone.

Experience will be on the Illini's side in Indiana. The upperclassmen have each played the Legends course during previous Shootouts, with the exception of Kallergis. Cook also played her High School State Championship there.

"It's a course the players feel comfortable on," said Illinois head coach Renee Slone. "They've also experienced success on it, which always adds to one's confidence."

Illinois' 890 tournament total at last year's Shootout shattered the previous Illinois 54-hole tournament low of 901, while the final round of 292 ranks as the second lowest round in team history. The fourth (903), fifth (907), and sixth (910) lowest 54-hole totals occurred at the 2002, 2001, and 2005 Shootouts, respectively.

Park carded tournament totals of 216 in each of the two previous Shootouts, ranking third on the Illinois all-time individual 54-hole tournament total list. She also posted Illinois' third lowest single round total at the 2005 tournament with her second round 69. Her two rounds of 71 at last year's tournament are tied for ninth on the all-time list. Burden and Mory also carded rounds of 71 last year.

"Last year's conditions were really perfect," said Slone. "The weather was ideal and the conditions made it easy to score low."

Illinois looks for repeat conditions this year to add to the record books.
