Chip Shots with Hailey Koschmann

Go behind the scenes of Illinois women's golf with "Chip Shots", the online golf journal. In the third edition of the new season, junior Hailey Koschmann talks about the weather at the Irish invitational and getting to play at her home course in next week's tournament.
Hello Illini Fans!
This past weekend we played our second tournament of the fall season at Notre Dame's home course, Warren Golf Course. Conditions were tough both days with cold weather, which we haven't had much of yet in Champaign this fall, and some wind. Going into the final round, we were tied for 9th as a team. We were able to come out with a 302 in the final round, which was one of the best rounds of the day. We were very pleased with this round because we were able to pass four teams and end up in a tie for 4th.
Next week we will be playing in the Lady Northern Invitation, or otherwise known as the Big Ten Preview at Lake Shore Country Club. I am very excited for this event because Lake Shore happens to be my home course! My dad has worked at Lake Shore for over 30 years and I first started playing golf there when I was twelve years old. The membership has been extremely generous to me in letting me practice and play there for my entire golf career. I also caddy there during the summer. Hopefully I will be helpful to my teammates in telling them what my hole by hole strategy is during the practice round.
Most of the team has played there before so they know what to expect from the course. We will be practicing a lot of bunker play this week because the course has fairway and/or greenside bunkers on every hole. The greens are generally pretty fast so we will also be practicing some 3-4 ft putts to prepare. We will be working hard this week to get ready for our third tournament of the season! Thanks for supporting Illinois Women's Golf!!
