CHAMPAIGN, Ill.-Ember Schuldt has advanced to the second stage of Qualifying School following a +6 campaign over the span of August 26-29 during the opening stage of the tournament. The recent Illinois graduate finished the opening stage tied for 54th.

Schuldt opened the tournament with a one-over outing on the Arnold Palmer course at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California. The Dinah Shore course on day two was not as kind as Ember finished with a 76. The Sterling, Illinois, native entered the third day of competition at +5 heading back to the Arnold Palmer course where she was able to wrap up another 73 (+1).

On the final day of the stage Ember returned to the daunting Dinah Shore course looking to get some revenge. With four sand saves on the day, Ember shot an even par to solidify her place in the second stage of Qualifying School.

In her blog, Ember shared that she “give[s] a lot of credit to playing four years at U of I for being able to grind out rounds even when your best stuff is not there”.

The second stage of Qualifying School runs from Tuesday, September 30 to Friday, October 3 at the Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Florida. Schuldt will be joining 104 other hopeful players including former Illini golfer Seul Ki Park who finished the first stage tied for 19th.

Ember has been keeping a blog throughout her Qualifying School experience and can be found on the team’s Chip Shots blog.
