NORTH BARRINGTON, Ill. - University of Illinois senior-to-be Ember Schuldt accomplished a new career feat this afternoon, qualifying for her first USGA Women's Amateur Championship. Schuldt shot an even par of 72 at the Biltmore Country Club in North Barrington, Ill.
"We are proud of the hard work and dedication she is making to her game this summer and that she is seeing those results," said new assistant coach Jenny Coluccio.
Last season, Schuldt led the Illini with a 76.90 stroke average over 30 rounds. Her career 76.92 stroke average through three seasons ranks third all-time at Illinois. This is the second USGA Championship event Ember has qualified for this summer, previously earning a spot in the USGA Women's Public Links.
The top seven golfers advanced to the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship. Schuldt finished in a tie for second place, finishing one off from the leader Jessie Gerry. The Championship will be held at The Country Club of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. from August 5-11th.
