WGCA Release

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced their All-American Scholars for Division I, II and III on Friday, which included the Illini's own Samantha Postillion and Michelle Mayer. Postillion, a red-shirt sophomore from Burr Ridge, is majoring in Accounting, while teammate Mayer, a sophomore from Flossmor, Ill., is majoring in Business.

It is quite the prestigious honor as the WGCA boasts its criteria as some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA required is 3.50 and student athletes must have competed in at least 50% of the regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.

A record total of 664 collegiate women's golfers were recognized. Postillion's and Mayer's accomplishment marks the fourth straight year the Orange and Blue have garnered the award and the 20th year overall. In addition, it marks the ninth time more than one Illini golfer have been bestowed with the All-American honor.
