Park Takes Medalist Honors at Illinois State Amateur

Decatur, Ill. - University of Illinois senior-to-be Seul Ki Park took Medalist honors at the 74th State Women's Amateur Championship being contested at the Red Tail Run Golf Club in Decatur June 19-22. Park shot a 70 in Tuesday's qualifying round to take the top honor and joins fellow Illini Nancy Featherstone and Casey Burden in the field of 64 competitors from around the state of Illinois.
Featherstone and Burden each qualified with a 79 and were in a sudden-death playoff along with DeAnne Stolarik for the final spot in the 16-player Championship Flight. Featherstone won the playoff, earning the Championship Flight spot and the right to play her teammate, Park, in the opening round of match play on Wednesday (June 20). Burden faces off against Carly Flynn in the 16-player First Flight.
Last year's Illinois State Amateur was won by former Illini Megan Godfrey.
First round matches began on Wednesday, while quarterfinal and semifinal matches will be on Thursday, June 21. The Championship matches in each flight will be contested on Friday, June 22. Spectators are welcome.
