CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Several future Fighting Illini golfers have been enjoying success this summer before they enroll at the University of Illinois this August. Here is an update on what they've been up to so far this summer.

Duramed Futures Tour Update
Freshman-to-be Kaitlyn Wampler played in the Michelob ULTRA Duramed Futures Players Championship at Hickory Point Golf Course in Decatur over the weekend (June 12-15). Wampler fired rounds of 78 and 77 and missed the cut in what is the premier event on the developmental tour for the LPGA. The Bloomington, Ill., native earned a spot in the event by shooting a 79 to win the qualifying tournament last week at Red Tail Golf Course in Decatur. Wampler is not the only future Illini who will play in a Futures Tour event this summer. Another freshman-to-be, Samantha Sloan, earned a spot in the FUTURES Tour Horseshoe Casino Classic, which takes place June 27-29 at Lost Marsh Golf Club in Hammond, Indiana, by winning the qualifying tournament on May 28.

The Duramed FUTURES Tour is known as "the Road to the LPGA and Beyond," and since 1999, it has been designated as the official developmental tour of the LPGA. More information on the Duramed FUTURES Tour can be found HERE.

Illinois Women's State Amateur
Freshmen-to-be Nora Lucas of Glenview, Ill., and Hailey Koschmann, Lake Forest, Ill., both competed in the championship flight at the Illinois Women's State Amateur at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield last week. Koschmann won her first three matches to advance to the semifinals before being defeated by eventual champion Brooke Beeler, 5 and 4, while Lucas fell in the opening round to Chelsea Renee Harris, 2 and 1.
