Go behind the scenes of Illinois women's golf with "Chip Shots," the online golf journal. In the twelfth edition of the season, freshman Ember Schuldt talks about the end of the spring season, including the NCAA Regionals, the team banquet and the summer plans for Illinois women's golf.
Hey Illini Fans!
Now that the 2010-2011 season has officially ended, we look forward to our 2011-2012 season!! There is much to reflect upon and plans to be made drawing from our experiences this year - especially from this past week at Notre Dame, Indiana where we competed in the NCAA Regional Championship.
Our main goal throughout the season was to compete at the NCAA regional and we were VERY EXCITED AND PROUD to attain that goal!!! Going into the tournament we felt we could play great, make the top 8 and move on to Nationals. Although we did not qualify this year, we know we have what it takes to get it done next year. We want to play in the NCAA Championship!!!!
Upon our return, the team had the end of the season banquet where we had to say good-bye to our lone senior and great teammate, Raquel Hopton, as well as our fabulous assistant coach, Stephanie Wagemann. We will miss them very much next year and wish them all the luck in their endeavors!!
On a personal note, I wish to thank my teammates and the coaches for a wonderful first year as an Illini. They have all been so helpful and welcoming and I am proud to be a member of the team. It's been a lot of fun and very rewarding. Thank you!
With summer approaching, we are looking forward to improving our games and getting ready to come back in the fall. Most of us will be competing in some great tournaments this summer, such as the USGA championships, while some members will also be taking summer classes, which is always so fun! Also, we look forward to welcoming some new faces to the team, Michelle Mayer and Pimploy Thirati. So, Illini supporters, we will be back in full swing in the fall and ready to dominate!
OSKEE WOW WOW!!
