Go behind the scenes of Illinois women's golf with "Chip Shots", the online golf journal. In the fifth spring edition of the season, senior Kristine Cook recaps the Lady Buckeye Invitational and previews the upcoming Big Ten Championship.

After a week of practice, we traveled to the Lady Buckeye tournament at THE Ohio State University's golf course. We arrived in Ohio late Thursday night and woke up hearing about an earthquake, which had occurred at the Illinois-Indiana border. We were all pretty upset we had missed feeling the earthquake! We had good weather for our practice round and most of the tournament except for some rain during our second round on Friday afternoon. It was kind of a rough tournament for our team, but we are looking forward to Big Tens at Penn State this weekend. We all learned much from this tournament and know what to work on in our few days home in preparing for our next tournament. We will have Monday and Tuesday to work on our golf games, before leaving for Penn State on Wednesday afternoon. We have a practice round on Thursday, then 36 holes on Friday, followed by 18 holes on both Saturday and Sunday. We played this course last fall in the Big 10 Preview and are anxious to play this course again. This tournament will be bittersweet for me. Although we are all so excited for this tournament, it will be the last regular season tournament for me and the three other seniors on our team. Hopefully we will finish this regular season on a high note and play great this weekend at Big Tens! The tournament will consist of live scoring so check Golf Stat for updates on our team! GO ILLINI!!
