CHAMPAIGN, Ill.-  The Illinois women's golf team is scheduled to travel to Johns Island, S.C. on Monday, March 24 to compete at the Briars Creek Invitational.  The College of Charleston will host the event at the par-72, 7,113-yard Briars Creek Golf Club. Over the course of the two-day contest, which will take place on March 24-25, participating teams will play 36 holes each and have a format of best four out of five.  Furthermore, the Briars Creek Invitational will play host to 17 teams; the largest field the Illini have been a part of thus far in the season. 

In conjunction with the March 17 Golfweek/Sagarin Top-50 rankings, there will be six teams ranked in Monday's tournament. Along with No. 46 Illinois, the ranked teams include  15th-ranked Tigers of Clemson, No. 38 GRU Augusta, No. 41 Kansas, No. 42 Wisconsin, and No. 47 East Carolina. Filling out the rest of the pool include Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, Coastal Carolina, East Tennessee State, Maryland, Princeton, South Florida, Texas Tech, host College of Charleston and Big Ten foes Indiana and Penn State.

Representing the Orange and Blue will be a new line-up in terms of the spring season.  Redshirt junior Samantha Postillion will look to capitalize on her career best second place finish from Insperity Lady Jaguar tournament. Freshman Stephanie Miller and senior Ember Schuldt will look to continue their respective strong seasons while freshman Emily Joers and junior Michelle Mayer round out the scorecard for the Fighting Illini.
