Freshman Nora Lucas
March 13, 2009
Go behind the scenes of Illinois women's golf with "Chip Shots", the online golf journal. In the ninth edition of the season, freshman Nora Lucas provides a recap of the team's trip to Jacksonville and the Eagle Landing Invitational.
This past Monday and Tuesday Sammi, Nancy, Raquel, Katie, and I traveled to Jacksonville. We played in James Madison's Eagle Landing Invitational. The tournament was held at Eagle Landing Golf Club and was truly awesome! First off, we got to stay with a host family this trip, which is way better than any four star hotel. The family we stayed with was the Painters. The Painters not only gave us great accommodations but a home away from home. In addition, they were nice enough to come out and watch us during the tournament. As for the tournament, we shot our team best this spring with a 299! On Monday morning we got off to a decent start, but then came back with a strong finish in the afternoon with a 299. We are heading out to Oregon for spring break and feel this tournament was a step in the right direction to have a successful tournament in Oregon. We all had a great time. We hope to come again next year and come home with some hardware.
