Team Eyes Final Round Improvement - 5/1/99
After 54 holes of play at the Big Ten Women's Golf Championships the Fighting Illini team is in last place with one round remaining on Sunday. On Saturday, Illinois shot a team score of 347 on the par 72 Kampen Course at Purdue University. After three rounds Illinois' team score is 1,043 (347-349-347).
Ohio State leads the tournament with a four-shot advantage over 1998 champion Indiana. Ohio State shot rounds of 310-313-314 = 937 and Indiana has a 941 (314-316-311).
Illini Jillian Sitter has led the team through three rounds shooting 85-77-83 = 245. She is tied for 27th place in the individual standings. Lorette Lyttle is 15 strokes behind Sitter after shooting 84-84-92 = 260.
On Saturday Nell Macke shot the team's second-best score, an 86, and she has a 267 for the three rounds. Christin Sutton shot an 88 on Saturday. Christine Scott's 90 and Sarah Kim's 95 were not counted toward the team total.
The Illini will close out the 1999 season with the final round on Sunday.
