Sitter Improves as UI Falls to 15th - 3/25/98
Senior Jillian Sitter, who shot an 88 in the first round of the Dr. Thompson Rainbow Tournament, improved by eight strokes and carded an 80 in Wednesday's second round. The Illini team, which held 14th place after round one, fell to 15th with a 347 team score on Wednesday. Illinois shot 346 on Tuesday at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course in Honolulu for a combined score of 693.
In the team standings Arizona shot a 298 on Wednesday to match its first day score and jumped ahead of first-round leader San Jose State, which shot 294-306 the first two days.
Behind Sitter in the Illinois standings is Christin Sutton, who led the team with an 84 on Tuesday, but shot 89 in Wednesday's second round. Nell Macke has carded two rounds of 87, Lorette Lyttle shot a 91 on Wednesday after a first-round 87, and Christine Scott shot a second-round 95.
Final round action is Thursday. Illinois will host the Illini Classic on Friday-Saturday, April 2-3 at the University of Illinois Orange Course in Savoy.
