Illini Finish 11th At Midwest Classic
Sitter Leads Team To 21 Shot Improvement - 2/28/99

The Illinois women's golf team finished in 11th place to start off the spring season at the Midwest Classic at the Hyatt Bear Creek in Dallas, Texas on Sunday. The team improved by 21 strokes on Sunday, shooting a 335, after they finished in 12th place after the first round on Saturday, shooting a 356.

The University of Minnesota won the tournament shooting a weekend low of 311 on Sunday.

Senior Jillian Sitter (Naperville, Ill.) led the team, with rounds of 82-82, and tied for 24th in the final standings. Junior Nell Macke (Marshall, Ill.) improved by 7 strokes finishing 47th. Illinois senior Christin Sutton (Midland, Texas) tied for 51st, improving her game by two strokes (89-87). Junior Lorette Lyttle (West Palm Beach, Fla.) improved by 14 strokes (97-83), and tied for 60th in the final standings. Freshman Sarah Kim (Hoffman, Estates, Ill.) tied for 69th (96-93), and Illinois junior Christine Scott (Lockport, Ill.) tied for 72nd (95-96).

The Illini will continue their spring season at the Springlake Intercollegiate in Sebring, Fla. on March 15-16.
