Windy City Collegiate Classic Final Results

SKOKIE, Ill. - Illinois (920) tallied a final round 307 at the par-72 6,320-yard Evanston Golf Club and placed ninth at the Windy City Collegiate Classic, hosted by Northwestern. Freshman Hailey Koschmann paced the Illini, finishing in the top-20 for the third consecutive tournament.

"We had four scores in the 70s today, which is a good sign, but we needed to finish stronger," head coach Renee Slone said. "Our second round is always pretty solid, so we just need to work on getting off to a better start and finishing strong."

Koschmann (227) fired a final round 1-over 73 and moved up 10 spots in the standings, tying for 18th overall. Freshman Samantha Sloan (231) carded a 79 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 28th. Senior Nancy Featherstone (235) notched a final round 78 and tied for 40th for the second straight tournament. Sophomore Raquel Hopton (238) tied for 46th in her season debut after an 81 on the final day. Freshman Nora Lucas turned in a final round 77 for the Illini, but was unable to place individually after yesterday's disqualification for signing an incorrect scorecard. Freshman Abby Cotter (244) competed as an individual and shot a final round 82, tying her for 52nd.

Purdue (891) finished nine strokes ahead of second-place Texas Christian (900) to earn the team title. Michigan (902), Arizona (904) and Oklahoma (909) made up the top five of the 13-team field.

Purdue's Junthima Gulyanamitta took home medalist honors, finishing six strokes ahead of the field with a 4-under 212.

"It was a challenging golf course and a good tournament to help us prepare for Kampen Golf Course and the Lady Northern," Slone said. "We will use this week to reenergize the team, so that we can finish strong at the last two events of the fall season."

Up Next: The Illini travel to West Lafayette, Ind., for a preview of the Big Ten Championship course as they compete in the Lady Northern, hosted by Purdue. The 54-hole tournament includes all 11 Big Ten teams and will take place at Kampen Golf Course on Oct. 18-19.
