Senior Hailey Koschmann turned in a final round 73 on Tuesday and tied for 21st at the Knights and Pirates Invitational with teammate Samantha Sloan.

MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Illinois women's golf team moved up a spot at the Knights and Pirates Invitational on Tuesday with a final round 297 (+9), giving the Illini an overall score of 904 (+40) to place seventh in the 15-team field. UCF (877) took the team title, with Texas Tech (878) and Wisconsin (881) finishing close behind.
"We managed to avoid some of the big numbers and stray shots," head coach Renee Slone said of the final round. "We could have finished some shots on the green, but we kind of managed our game a little bit better and minimized the mistakes."
Individually, seniors Hailey Koschmann (225) and Samantha Sloan (225) led the Illini, finishing in a tie for 21st overall. Koschmann carded a 73 (+1) in the final round, while Sloan shot a 74 (+2). Senior Nora Lucas (228) and sophomore Ember Schuldt (228) finished three strokes behind their teammates to tie for 36th place. Lucas posted a 76 (+4) in the third round, while Schuldt's final round 74 (+2) was her best of the tournament.
Senior Katelin Dilger (235) finished in a tie for 59th place after posting a 77 (+5) in the final round. Freshman Michelle Mayer (245) competed as an individual and carded her best round of the tournament in the final round with a 78 (+6). Texas Tech's Devorah DeVilla took first place with a 213 (-3), while Purdue's Paula Reto finished in a second with a 215 (-1).
The Illini will be back in action on April 21-22 when they travel to Columbus, Ohio, for the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational.
