Ember Schuldt sits in fourth place with a 143 (-1) through two rounds

Ponte Vedra, Fla. - The University of Illinois women's golf team teed off Monday for the first two rounds of the Web.com Marsh Landing Invitational. Hosted by Jacksonville University, the invitational is being held at the par-72, 6,056-yard Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Samantha Postillion led the Illini after the first round, shooting a one-under 71. Ember Schuldt took the team lead after the second round, shooting a 72 in the first and a 71 on the second go, placing in a tie for fourth entering the final round. The remaining three Illini, Jacqueline Calamaro, Crystal Smith and Michelle Mayer, all shot an 83 (+11) in the first round for a 309 early team score. Calamaro dropped an impressive nine strokes off her total in the second round, hitting a two-over 74, to help the Illini to a 300 in round two, putting Illinois in 17th place out of the 20-team field. Despite being low in the standings, the Fighting Illini are just eight strokes outside the top 10, as East Carolina, Chattanooga, Maryland and Michigan are all tied for 10th with a two-round total of 601.
No. 11 Purdue has a five-stroke lead over Iowa State with one round remaining, as the Boilermakers shot a 290-284=574 on the first day of competition. The Cyclones hit a consistent 289-290=579, and Texas Tech is just one stroke behind in third, shaving off six strokes in round two (293-287=580).
Texas Tech's Gabriella Dominguez leads the individual race, hitting a 69-70=139 (-5) over the first two rounds. Boilermakers Laura Gonzalez and Paula Reto are tied for second with a 142 (-2), shooting 72-70 and 71-71 respectively. Illinois' own Ember Schuldt is in a four-way tie for fourth, with a one-under par 72-71, and Postillion is tie for 18th, three strokes behind Schuldt, going 71-75=146 (+2).
