Illini Head Into Day Two of Web.com Intercollegiate

Ponte Vedra, Fla. - At the conclusion of day one at the Web.com Intercollegiate at the Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., the University of Illinois women's golf team sits in 13th place after shooting rounds of 298 and 299 for a 597 total (+21). Ember Schuldt shot a tremendous first round, tying her career low of 67. However, the senior will start tomorrow's play at one under par after a second round score of 76.
"Ember had a very strong first round," said Head Coach Renee Slone. "She was able to birdie five holes and didn't have any bogey's which is fantastic."
Schuldt was followed by freshman Stephanie Miller who is currently tied for 37th after shooting a 73 on the first round and 75 on the second for a total of 148 (+4). Samantha Postillion who tied for 53rd, rallied after a first round 79 to shoot even par in the second round. The redshirt junior finished at +7. Freshman Emily Joers followed next with a 156 (+12), while junior Michelle Mayer shot season low rounds of 79 in both the first and second round to net a 158 (+14).
No. 35 Florida State has a 7 stroke lead over East Carolina (575, -2) with one round remaining, as the Seminoles shot a 288 for the first round and 280 for the second giving them a total of 568 (-8) after two rounds. Chattanooga sits in third by only two strokes after carding a 282 in the first round and 295 in the second giving them a total of 577 (+1) for the day.
Florida State's Matilda Castern leads the individual standings, shooting a 69 in the first round and 66 in the second to give her a total of 135 (-9) on the day. She looks to maintain her lead over Chattanooga's Jordan Britt (67+70=137) and Maryland's Juliet Vongphoumy (69+68=137) who are both only two strokes behind.
