Former Illini Moore Signs Professional Contract

Aug. 22, 2014

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Former University of Illinois guard/forward Amber Moore has signed a professional contract with the Finnish team Turun Riento Turku for the 2014-15 season, her first foray into professional basketball. Moore led the Fighting Illini, averaging 15.3 points per game in 2013-14, along with 4.6 rebounds per game. She also broke the school record with 88 three-pointers in a season and finished her career with a school-record 295 treys.

"I'm really excited," Moore said. "It's been a really long summer but I've been working out and waiting to get this phone call. To get it is a blessing because it's what I've been working for my entire life. I'm just anxious to get over there and show them my skills."

Turun Riento Turku is in Finland's SM-sarja league and plays a schedule that runs from late September to early April. Moore departs for Finland Sept. 8.
