Champaign, Ill. - The Fighting Illini caravan kicks off its nine-city tour by heading to Peoria on Wednesday. Illinois football coach Tim Beckman, men's basketball coach John Groce, women's basketball coach Matt Bollant and Director of Athletics Mike Thomas will host a reception at the Peoria Country Club (4700 Grandview Dr., Peoria Heights) from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The evening will include heavy hors d'oeuvres, an autograph session and a chance to chat with the Illini coaches. Illinois fans can still register for the reception, which is $25 per person, online at fightingillini.com. Tickets also will be available for purchase at the door.

Illini coaches will be active throughout the day in the Peoria community. Coach Beckman will start the afternoon by visiting with patients at the Children's Hospital of Illinois. Coach Groce, meanwhile, will speak to students at Sterling Middle School while Coach Bollant speaks to students at Lincoln Middle School. All three coaches will then speak at Roosevelt Magnet School. Along with the coaches, select Illini student-athletes will participate in the visits as well.

Prior to the reception, Peoria area fans will have an additional opportunity to interact with the Illini coaches at the new Verizon Wireless store, located at 4201 N. Sterling Ave. Coaches Beckman, Groce and Bollant will be on site, greeting fans and signing autographs from 4-5 p.m.
