CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The University of Illinois women's basketball year-end banquet will be held Sunday, April 14, at 3 p.m. at the I Hotel, head coach Matt Bollant announced Wednesday. The banquet will honor the Illini's three seniors and recognize the team's accomplishments.
The event is open to the public, with tickets available for $40. Members of the Courtsiders, the Illini women's basketball support group, receive a discounted rate of $35. Tickets can be purchased by calling Connie Peacock (217-367-3294) or Dave Chesnut (217-840-6657), or emailing Chesnut (email@example.com). The I Hotel is located at 1900 S. First St., Champaign, south of the Assembly Hall.
In Bollant's first year at the helm of the Illinois program, the Orange and Blue recorded their best Big Ten record in 10 years with a 9-7 mark, which tied for fifth in the conference standings. They notched their best winning percentage since 2007 with a 19-14 final mark (.576) and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Women's National Invitation Tournament.
Illinois' 19 wins were its most since 2008 and the Illini broke the Big Ten records for steals in all games (417), in Big Ten play (234) and steals per game in Big Ten play (14.6). They also broke school records for turnovers forced (773), three-pointers made (184) and three-pointers attempted (634).
