Lacing Up with Lacey #10 // April 2, 2009

This semester, junior Lacey Simpson will be writing a weekly blog to keep Fighting Illini fans up to date on what's going on behind the scenes. After a week off for Spring Break, Simpson returns to write about her trip out east and starting spring workouts.

Yes my fellow citizens of Champaign-Urbana, I'm finally back in town!!! Over the past week and a half I've been exploring while on my Spring Break vacation. My first stop was to visit my BFF Toni in Oxford, Ohio for 3 days. Over those three days, I got the chance to hang out with her and explore the beautiful campus of Miami University. I then took a 5-hour drive home to spend a day with my family before talking a flight the next morning to Newark, New Jersey, where I spent the day with friends in Orange, New Jersey.

My final stop, where I would spend a week, was in Staten Island, New York. I got to spend the week with my older sisters Tanika and Florene, and my niece and nephew Deja and Jalen. I spent some of my time shopping and spending all of my money, mainly on shoes (I bought 4 pairs of new shoes!!!).

But most of my time I spent with my niece Deja and nephew Jalen. I hardly ever get to see them and spend time with them. We had so much fun while I was there. One day we all took a family outing to the local Chucky Cheese. (I haven't been there in years and I think I had more fun then they did). It was nice to be able to go to the park and be a kid all over again and play with them. But we had so much fun, I'm just mad that the week went by so quickly.

I always have a god time when I go to New York and this time was no different! It seems like there's always something new and exciting to do. However, I am happy to be back at school. I've had my time off and I've enjoyed it, but now its time to get back to work. Now is the time to work on my game and make improvements, next year is my last year and I want to go out with a bang!!! Post-season workouts have started and I'm focused and ready to work, like Coach Law says, "everyday you must become 1% better." So with each day, I will try my best to do just that so wish me luck everyone!!!

I'm happy to be back ☺.
