CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The fourth annual Ultimate Basketball Challenge is set for Wednesday, April 15 at 6 p.m. at Huff Hall, featuring the Illinois men's and women's basketball teams and the national renowned Illinois men's and women's wheelchair basketball teams. The fun-filled event is a joint effort between the programs to raise money for the wheelchair basketball programs as well as Coaches vs. Cancer.
Tickets for the Ultimate Basketball Challenge are on sale now at the Illinois Athletics Ticket Office or by phone (217-333-3470 or 866-ILLINI-1). Tickets will also be on sale at Huff Hall the day of the game. Prices are $5 each or $3 each for a group rate of 10 or more tickets.
The doors at Huff Hall will open at 5:30 p.m. on April 15, with the basketball players available for autographs on the floor at 5:45 p.m. The Orange Krush, Illinois cheerleaders and pep band will also be on hand to celebrate the event.
The UI athletes will be divided into two teams, with men's basketball coach Bruce Weber and women's basketball coach Jolette Law serving as coaches for the second consecutive year. A celebrity free throw shooting contest will take place at halftime, with Weber, Law, UI President B. Joseph White and Scott Burnsmier from the American Cancer Society participating.
Last season's UBC was a success, with over 1,000 fans in attendance to cheer on the participants and support the wheelchair basketball programs and Coaches vs. Cancer.
