Posting Up With Jenna - Season 2 // March 19, 2010 Senior All-American Jenna Smith catches Illini fans up with her busy life in the newest "Posting Up." This week Jenna looks forward to March Madness, Spring Sports and talks about working at football pro day.
We have our first WNIT game Friday night and, though we were hoping to be in the NCAAs this year, playing in it should be a fun experience. I have been here before, but its always fun to play at a new arena or visit states that you have never been to so I'm excited to see Western Kentucky. My parents are driving from Minnesota to Western Kentucky for the game! I can't believe it! It will take them about 14 hours! I am truly blessed that they would do that just to watch me play! They are the greatest parents in the world. If we win we will have a double header with the guys on Monday, which would be fun! Hopefully I will get another chance to play at Assembly Hall!
I'm also glad I will get to see the guys play again. I think they should have made the NCAA Tournament, but since they didn't either, why don't we both just go all the way in the NIT?
So at work the other day, I got to see a bit of the football pro day. It was real exciting to see the guys out in front of the scouts. I was just thinking about when we all entered this University together and all lived in the dorms - guys like Juice, Duvie, Dere, Rejus - and now they are done and trying out for the NFL. It was cool because we had a live blog going on and we were listing who could jump the highest or lift the most while they were doing it. It was very interesting to see. I have heard about it through some of the guys, but to actually see it was cool. It's crazy that their futures could be determined by how they worked out that day!
In my last blog I named my favorite things I like about spring, but I forgot one thing... I get to watch spring sports! Spring is a great time of year because it's not to cold and its not to hot so its perfect for sitting out at baseball games, softball games and tennis matches! ☺ I can't wait to cheer on all my friends in the other sports!
I also love this time of year because of March Madness. For the women's NCAAs I have to go with UConn. They are playing good basketball and have that crazy winning streak...don't know if anyone can beat them. For the men it's a tough one. I really like Kansas but I like Michigan State as well and Kentucky. Ahhh...there are some good teams! This will be exciting to watch!
That's all for now. Need to get ready for the Western Kentucky game! Thanks for supporting us and come out and support the men Monday as well!
