Lacing Up with Lacey #8 // March 12, 2009

This semester, junior Lacey Simpson will be writing a weekly blog to keep Fighting Illini fans up to date on what's going on behind the scenes. In this week's installment of "Lacing Up," Simpson looks forward to next year and gives an update on her internship.

Well Illini fans, the time has finally come...the season is over. ☹ We made it to the second round of the Big Ten Tournament by beating Penn St. and suffered some heavy blows in the second round against the number 1 seeded Ohio State.

Although this has been a long season of ups and downs, I must say I've learned so much and have grown a lot this year, and I believe that the staff and my teammates has done so as well. The best part about this situation is that everyone is coming back and we have 6 new players to add to the mix. And right about now, that's all the motivation I need to go out and work hard in the off-season.

On another note...

Now that the season has come to an end, I get a few weeks to rest up and focus more on my internship. Today, I get to do another show for the Fighting Illini Insider where I talk about different sports and highlights of their season. I love doing this show because I feel as though it's my very own show (I'm a superstar!) lol. I'm also preparing for my speech that I have to give on Tuesday March 17th for the IFUND organization. Where I will discuss how life is here at the university as a student-athlete. So yes, as you all should know, I am the busiest workingwoman in the world. (True story people) I have traded my sneakers in for a pair of stiletto pumps and have become a workingwoman now. (Well at least until workouts start back up!!!!) But I'm enjoying this experience and it has given me high hopes about what I want to do in the near future. Be sure to check back next week to see how things are going.

Go Illini!
Lacey
