Posting Up With Jenna - Season 2 // Feb. 4, 2010
Senior All-American Jenna Smith catches Illini fans up with her busy life in the newest "Posting Up." This week she looks back at the Illini's trip to Minnesota, her favorite TV shows and football signing day.
Going back to Minnesota and playing at home for the last time was amazing! First off, I just say that was a big win for us because we needed it for our confidence! Everyone played well and just seeing everyone smile and laugh after the game was great! I think we can still make a run at the end of the season now and pull out some WINS!
The night before the game, everyone got to go shopping at the greatest place on earth, the Mall of America (I know I'm being biased, but love it there!) ☺ Everyone loved the mall because it is tax-free. Everyone had bags and bags of clothing and I just started laughing because they usually tease me about Minnesota and that there is nothing to do there, but it looks like they were happy from the trip with loads of good stuff!
While everyone was shopping, Coach Law gave me the chance hang with the family. I only live about seven blocks away from the mall so I was so happy to be home. My uncle came from all the way New Hampshire to see me play. I haven't seen him since I was in middle school and I don't think he has ever seen me play, so that was really cool. It was so good to spend time with him and see him really enjoy himself.
Playing at Minnesota for the last time was bittersweet. I enjoyed every moment of it. I love coming home to know that people have still followed me over my four years at Illinois. When I was walking into the arena and people were saying `Welcome home Jenna' and when I was announced for the starting line up some Gopher fans still cheered for me as well. It just gave me a good feeling to know that they still care even though I'm not a Gopher. I had a lot of friends and family there to watch and I was especially excited to see my AAU coach that I haven't seen in a long time. He is always coaching and busy and I am not home a lot, so it was good to give him a hug. I also learned that he texts now, so I am sure we will keep in touch more. I'd like to thank for everyone that came out and supported me on my last trip back home!
Bad Girls Club
Anyone watch it last night? These women are crazy but the house is amazing! I would be swimming in that pool 24/7 if I lived there and I love to tan so I would be in heaven! I haven't been able to watch Law & order SVU yet this week, so hopefully I will catch it this weekend. We're at home on Sunday so I might have some time. I also love the show Everybody Hates Chris on BET. It's a good show...quite funny. My roommate and I have been watching it a lot and laughing constantly.
So yesterday at my internship I went over to the football stadium and heard about the new football class for next year as every one signed their national letter of intents today. It looks like they have a good class and it was interesting to see because it is so different then basketball. A lot of basketball players I know commit months ahead of time before they sign, but they told me that a lot football players wait until the signing day to say where they're going! I think that is crazy! I bet coaches are nervous and so are the players. The sports information staff was very busy blogging, doing chats and taking photos. I had no idea they did so much!
I also got to talk to Coach Zook when I went over there. He is a very cool guy and always is so nice. He comes to support our team and he said he is going try and make it to a game now before I graduate since he'll have more time after signing day. It's always nice to see him and his players show up and support us.
That's my life in a nutshell! We are in Purdue for a game tonight! Lets get another win! Then on Sunday we play Indiana at home. MAKE SURE TO COME OUT IN PINK SUNDAY!!!!!!
