CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The University of Illinois women's basketball team will hold its annual "Pack the Hall" game on Sunday, Jan. 13, when the Illini host the Michigan State Spartans at the Assembly Hall. Doors open at 2 p.m. with tip-off between the Illini and Spartans set for 3 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
Fans can enjoy free admission and parking and the team will hold its only full-squad postgame autograph session of the season. Groups can request blocks of seats by emailing assistant director of marketing Kali Hofer.
Illinois has shown great improvement in the first season under head coach Matt Bollant, posting a 7-6 record including an impressive win over No. 6 Georgia after finishing 11-19 a year ago. The Illini rank in the top 35 nationally in scoring offense, favoring a fast-paced style along with a pressuring "buzz" defense dubbed.
The Orange and Blue are led by two-time All-Big Ten selection Karisma Penn, who is averaging 19.5 points per game and 10.7 rebounds per game. She ranks in the top 25 nationally in double-doubles, scoring, rebounding and blocked shots. Penn leads the Big Ten in rebounding and blocked shots (2.7 bpg), and ranks fourth in scoring.
